God Keeps His Word Joshua 21 February 10, 2008

Background From slaves to nomadic tribesmen. From tribesmen to an army of soldiers. From soldiers to a settled community. From tents to houses. From compounds to cities.

Exo 32:26 then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, "Whoever is for the LORD, come to me!" And all the sons of Levi gathered together to him.”

Num 35:2 "Command the sons of Israel that they give to the Levites from the inheritance of their possession, cities to live in; and you shall give to the Levites pasture lands around the cities.”

Chapter Breaks Down Vs. 1-9 Requests to receive all that God had promised them. Vs. 10-42 Record of the cities given and by whom. Vs. 43-45 Record of God keeping His promise.

Outline I. He was faithful to give Israel the land. Josh 21:43 So the LORD gave Israel all the land which He had sworn to give to their fathers, and they possessed it and lived in it.

Outline II. He was faithful to give Israel the victory. Josh 21:44 And the LORD gave them rest on every side, according to all that He had sworn to their fathers, and no one of all their enemies stood before them; the LORD gave all their enemies into their hand.

Outline III. He was faithful to keep His promises. Josh 21:45 Not one of the good promises which the LORD had made to the house of Israel failed; all came to pass.
