Presentation transcript:

Majors and degree planning Why did you choose your major? If you can’t answer that question, you may want to consider the following: Research careers related to your major – O*Net Online (www.onetonline.org) is a great resource to find information about knowledge, skills, abilities and more needed for almost any career. If you don’t know if you are in the right major, or don’t have one yet, consider scheduling an appointment with a career counselor in the Career Development Center (www.wichita.edu/careers) to start exploring careers that would be a good fit for you. Degree planning is essential to ensure timely graduation. Run a Degree Works audit from myWSU (in your myclasses tab) to check where you are in relation to graduation. For questions regarding your degree audit, contact your college academic advisor or advising center.

Travel and learn! Wichita State has two programs that allow you to travel for a semester or year and take classes (at WSU tuition rates) toward your degree. National Student Exchange – www.wichita.edu/nse Study Abroad – www.wichita.edu/studyabroad Students usually exchange during their sophomore or junior year. Application materials are due February 1 (in most cases), so you must plan well in advance. You must meet GPA and other requirements. Some academic departments offer trips during specific classes. Talk to your college academic advisor early if you are considering any academic travel opportunities.
