We Will Reap What We Sow Habakkuk 2:4-20

“But the righteous shall live by his faith.” Habakkuk 2:4b

For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. 1 John 2:16-17

Moreover, wine is a traitor, an arrogant man who is never at rest. His greed is as wide as Sheol; like death he has never enough. He gathers for himself all nations and collects as his own all peoples. Habakkuk 2:5

Will not your debtors suddenly arise, and those awake who will make you tremble? Then you will be spoil for them. Habakkuk 2:7

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” James 4:13-15

So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12

Woe to him who gets evil gain for his house, to set his nest on high, to be safe from the reach of harm! You have devised shame for your house by cutting off many peoples; you have forfeited your life. For the stone will cry out from the wall, and the beam from the woodwork respond. Habakkuk 2:9-11

The LORD is the strength of his people; he is the saving refuge of his anointed. Proverbs 28:8

“Woe to him who builds a town with blood and founds a city on iniquity! Behold, is it not from the LORD of hosts that peoples labor merely for fire, and nations weary themselves for nothing? Habakkuk 2:12-13

Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the LORD, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you. You have plowed iniquity; you have reaped injustice; you have eaten the fruit of lies. Because you have trusted in your own way and in the multitude of your warriors Hosea 10:12-13

Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Galatians 6:7-9

in the midst of the years make it known; … I will rejoice in the LORD; Your work O Lord…In the midst of the years revive it; in the midst of the years make it known; … I will rejoice in the LORD; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. GOD, the Lord, is my strength Habakkuk 3:2, 18-19

Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? … But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:26, 33

with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea. Habakkuk 2:14

“Listen. Behold, a sower went out to sow “Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it. Other seed fell on rocky ground, where it did not have much soil, and immediately it sprang up, since it had no depth of soil. And when the sun rose, it was scorched, and since it had no root, it withered away.

Other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no grain. And other seeds fell into good soil and produced grain, growing up and increasing and yielding thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.” And he said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” Mark 4:3-9

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 2 Corinthians 9:6
