Newfs are great swimming dogs Newfs are great swimming dogs. They come from an island off the coast of Canada called Newfoundland. They have two layers of fur that repel water and help the dog float. Newfs also don’t doggie paddle, they have a swimming motion similar to a person. The last thing that makes them good swimmers is the web type paws that they have, this helps them swim faster in the water. I hope that one day there is a Newf as a life guard at White Water. Males weigh 130-150 lbs Females weigh 100-120 lbs Star in many movies as characters. Such as Harry Potter and Peter Pan.
