Presentation transcript:

An integrated program on curriculum development of incorporating emerging technology into the casting of special course in vocational high school Emerging technologies provide the vitality that pervades modern engineering. Each of these technologies has made its mark both on society, with substantial changes to the very fabric of life itself, and on engineering, through the creation of new disciplines, new levels of understanding, new approaches to the practice of engineering, and engineering education. The emerging-technology has been extensively emphasized with government, industry, research department and educational circle. This pilot program is developing course materials to be incorporated into existing vocational high school science subjects as part of emerging-technology education. The plan/course/experiment activities were augmented with special topics (six credit) related to the course of emerging-technology; applications of nanotechnology (two credit), materials engineering (two credit), and emerging-technology (two credit) in course design were discussed. It was well received by the participants, and will be used as a model for future programs at the casting department of NK. They will change our approach to engineering education at the level of high school seniors and university freshmen with the aim of attracting more of these students into engineering careers (service to the community) and university. Key words: emerging-technology, nanotechnology, materials engineering, special topics
