Food chains and Food Webs

Food Chain Shows a feeding relationship between a produce and a single chain of consumers in an ecosystem. Starts with primary producers Shows the flow of energy from producer to consumer

Food Web Shows all of the food chains in a ecosystem Contains all of the producers and consumers Shows how different organisms are dependent on each other

Arrows In both food chains and food webs the arrow points from the organism being eaten to the organism that is eating it. Producer Primary consumer The arrow follows the flow of energy from Arrows point from the eaten to the eater

Assignment On a separate sheet of paper, draw four different food chains for your ecosystem. (if possible, do not use an animal or plant twice in the four food chains) You need at least 5 items on each food chain. Pay close attention to which way the arrows are pointing. On the back of this sheet of paper, draw a food web for your ecosystem. You need at least 20 items on your food web. Pay close attention to which way the arrows are pointing.
