Learning Objectives 1. To understand the human brain and its functions. 2. To understand how to keep our brains healthy.

How much do you know about your brain? You need to decide whether the following statements are true or false… Your brain uses 20% of your energy. There are three parts to your brain. Your brain has more than 100 billion neurons (brain cells). Albert Einstein’s brain was a third of the size of a normal adult. If you don’t use it you lose it. You only use 1-5% of your brain’s potential. All your neurons joined together would stretch from here to the moon.

How much do you know about your brain? You need to decide whether the following statements are true or false… Your brain needs plenty of oxygen and water to work properly. Your brain is the size of a large grapefruit. Learning makes your brain more powerful. Your brain consists of two halves. Alcohol kills brain cells.
