Peasant Wedding Preparation of the Flower Beds Brughel had a successful life as a painter. His favorite subjects were peasants and country scenes. His paintings are often called 'genre' (daily life) paintings.

The painting The Harvester's Meal is very typical of the type of picture Brueghel painted. In this picture some of the peasants (farm laborers) are working in the fields, while a group of people in the foreground are enjoying a simple meal.

Utagawa Toyoharu (1733-1814)

Toyoharu was from Japan

Interior and Landscape Utagawa Toyoharu was the founder of the Utagawa School of wood engraving. He worked in a lively and original style. His prints of theatrical subjects were painted for the stage and for various temples.

Sakura is the Japanese word for cherry blossom, which blooms across Japan between March and May each year. The cherry blossom is widely celebrated in Japanese literature, poetry, and art.
