What is Linkedin? LinkedIn is a social network for professionals Whether you're a marketing executive at a major company, a business owner who runs a small local shop or even a first year college student looking to explore future career options, LinkedIn is for anybody and everybody who's interested in taking their professional lives seriously by finding new opportunities to grow their careers and to connect with other professionals. Examples of a bad Linkedin profile?

Choosing your Linkedin profile picture Seen by any future employers Professional We are now going to show you some of the worst mistakes you can make when selecting a profile picture for LinkedIn

The party animal Using a picture of you in a relaxed situation can be a great idea. However, choose carefully. Avoid pictures in a crowd and avoid shots where you are holding a glass or bottle of alcohol.

The throwback Ensure your photo represents you as you are today. Ban photo’s that are too old/ no longer relevant.

The happy parent Your beloved baby isn’t appropriate in your business pictures and neither is your puppy. Employers aren’t interested in your family life; they are more interested in evaluating you as a reliable employee.

The adventurer If you are a passionate hunter, birdwatcher or hiker, spare everyone the pictures of your adventures into the wild. Pictures with weapons are definitely off-limits. This category also includes pictures of your volunteer activities. There is a dedicate LinkedIn section to show everybody you are a good Samaritan.

The sportsman I’m sure there will be enough space in the hobby section of your profile to demonstrate your love for your favourite sport. So, unless you are a professional athlete, avoid using that action shot for LinkedIn.
