The Age of Jackson Ends Basics Andrew Jackson (1767-1845) was said to have physically suffered at one time or another from the following: chronic headaches, abdominal pains, and a cough caused by a musket ball in his lung that was never removed. After retiring to his home near Nashville, Tennessee, The Hermitage, he lived eight more years before dying of chronic tuberculosis, dropsy, and heart failure.
