How does storage work in your company Presented by: Luis Fernando Garcia Rincon English II

Storage in O-I Peldar O-I Peldar is a plant is engaged in the production of packaging glass. The equipment present for the manufacture of these products, is constituted by two furnaces, for melting glass mixture.

Storage in O-I Peldar Once the containers are made ( in a continuous process ) these are packaged automatically by a machine that is continuous extension of the manufacturing process , therefore human contact is limited to a minimum of very special conditions, and carried out by authorized and specialized.

Storage in O-I Peldar After that the packaging machine form pallet, this is collected from a location determined by a forklift operator and transferred to the site intended for the storage, where it remains until his release for port.

Storage in O-I Peldar The company uses a storage layout that seeks to increase the rate of shipments (for example, loaded pallets number per unit time). This strategy focuses on the organization of references by criteria stock rotation, locating those with greater movement in areas closest to the inputs of the warehouses. Also, the references from slightest movement are shipped at the end of the warehouse, taking more control of obsolete.

Storage in O-I Peldar The storage should be done following the model FIFO, First-In, First-Out. it´s an management method used to calculate the value of inventory at the end of an accounting period and the cost of goods sold during the period. This method assumes that inventory purchased or manufactured first is sold first and newer inventory remains unsold.

Storage in O-I Peldar

Storage in O-I Peldar The storage system used in the company is from random order, which groups products according to lot sizes and available space without relating the characteristics of the products. Though the store space is efficiently utilized, the random storage not helps to collecting fast, especially when dealing with large quantities by the physical characteristics of the warehouses, the production is piled on the floor with 3 levels stowage with the same reference in blocks and a single corridor for the movement of the forklift.

Storage in O-I Peldar

Storage in O-I Peldar Currently will find a scheme that seeks to minimize the tours to locate the production required by the customer, besides reducing downtime and the number of manipulations to the pallets which maximize the overall flow of materials. Though be diminished the number of units stored is accelerated the dispatch of goods in less time by increasing the number of loaded trucks per day, reducing costs operation such as salaries and leasing of forklifts.

Storage in O-I Peldar The production is piled on the floor with 3 levels stowage with the same reference in blocks with several hallways for the movement of the forklift and material flow.
