Mentor/Coach Relationship A set # of hours is pre-determined by the state for PD related to mentoring Counts toward ‘100 Hours’ We have 4 mentor meetings a year Attendance is taken at meetings Novice teachers pay the mentoring fee through payroll deductions

Graduate Credits Must complete the pre-approval form Please follow deadline dates August 15th for fall courses December 15th for spring courses April 15th for summer courses As per contract, you can be reimbursed for up to 100% of the state tuition rate for graduate credits if a grade of B or higher is earned Six credits per semester Counts toward ‘100 Hours’ (45 per 3 credits)

In-district PD Scheduled periodically Subs are provided (sometimes you have to call sub service) Scheduled during the work day Counts toward “100 Hours” Attendance is taken

District In-Service Days Three each year September 8, 2009 October 12, 2009 January 18, 2010 Combination of district and building initiatives

Out of District PD Must have pre-approval Reimbursed at $35 per day or $50 for a two-day workshop Counts toward ‘100 Hours’ Can count for CEU if on the weekend, in the evening, or over the summer

BRRSD Teacher’s College Fall and Spring Courses Offered Summer Reflective Institute A schedule will be out soon Costs $20 per course and the cost of any books Most courses are 10 hours Attendance is required CEUs can be earned

PD Hours vs. CEUs All PD can count as hours toward the NJ required ‘100 Hours’ Every teacher must accumulate ‘100 Hours’ over 5 years to maintain his or her certificate Teachers keep track of their own hours 10 hours = 10 hours Only PD that occurs outside of the work day and is pre-approved can count as CEUs Teachers are not required to earn CEUs Teachers and HR keep track of CEUs 10 hours = 1 CEU (typically) CEUs lead to salary guide advancement
