(Formal Commands). Formal Commands We use commands to give instructions or to ask people to do things. In Spanish, commands have different forms to distinguish.

With Affirmative (yes) Commands… reflexive, indirect, and direct object pronouns are always attached to the END of the verb Example: Write it → Escríbala Sit down → Siéntense

Accent Mark Rule with Pronoun Usage *If the verb has 2 or more syllables= add an ACCENT Mark Example: Limpie- límpielo lean- leánlo Diga- dígame haga- hágalo

With Negative (no) Commands… the Pronoun goes before the verb Example: Don’t write it → No la escriba

Directions: Write the following commands in Spanish (remember to change the verb into the SUBJUNCTIVE tense) Call us (llamar)- Ud. Look for (buscar) him- Ud. Relax (relajarse)- Uds.
