Leadership Development Day 3 8th October 2016 Assessment Activity Joyce Matthews, Jonathan Dale and Dr Robin Attfield London Centre for Leadership in Learning UCL Institute of Education

Assessment Activity High levels of attendance on the training days (100% expected unless there are verified reasons for non-attendance at any stage) Effective team working during the programme showing ability to speak and listen as part of various groups Completion of at least one lesson observation showing accurate observation and judgements and indications of effective feedback with the teacher and reflection on the process

Assessment Activity Completion of a project between the two taught elements of the programme showing leadership skills and development and aimed at improving outcomes for students Effective presentation of the project to peers and assessors Participation in intersessional online sessions Reflective skills and commitment to improve

A completed lesson observation; Assessment Activity A completed lesson observation; evidence of planning for the observation delivery of feedback to the teacher reflection on the process. You need to get them to write the mottos big enough to easily be read. It should be translated if not understood by all, i.e if it is in Latin or something? If they do not have one encourage tem to think of a short sentence they could write to go in the front of the school brochure. You generally find that there are lots of similarities between these… they all seem to be around achievment, best you cna, some have happy , fulfilling, some have life long learners

2. A Schools Based Project Assessment Activity 2. A Schools Based Project A project based on a priority area for your school. To be completed in small groups, no more than three but with individual submissions. A formal report is required between 4 and 6 sides of A4 (2000-3000 words) in English or Mandarin with an additional appendix for data e.g. surveys, if required. An individual presentation will be made in May for 5 to 10 minutes (In English or Mandarin) consisting of no more than 6 PowerPoint slides with video clips if appropriate.

Assessment Activity Schools Based Project Will include a reflection on the IPQSL programme and how it has been applied in practice The project should include references to relevant national/international research related to leadership and school improvement The project report should also describe your individual approach to future learning and development

e.g. Teacher Development Audit teacher development visit classrooms and participate in professional learning activities with staff keep up to date with the field and share their learning with others initiate and guide conversations about student learning make student learning a focus for performance evaluation establish teaching and learning as central topics for school-wide staff meetings analyse data about student learning and use it for planning

Schools Based Project. Characteristics Needs to be original and based on evidence from your role/team/school. Each individual needs to focus on one component of a team based project. All links to research and materials from the internet must be referenced. No copying from the internet is allowed Projects should focus on one area at a deep level. Project reports and presentations need to be well structured.

Schools Based Project. Key Dates Friday 14th October – Project Topics to be agreed. Project title and rationale to be submitted to tutor. Friday 2nd December – Interim progress report December, January, February and March. Online update meetings Friday April 30th – Presentations- Date to be confirmed 4 Weeks after final module- Submission of project report
