BASEAL Relationships - 2

L.O.1 I know how most people feel when they lose something or someone they love. L.O.2 I know some ways to celebrate the life of someone I care about.

Most of us have had pets. We know that at sometime a pet may die. We are upset when this happens. Eventually, though, we can get over it. We are going to read a story about a hamster called “Lynford” then make a story board about him. We could include things like: Choosing Lynford; Getting used to him and finding out about him. Lynford as an escape artist. Lynford’s illness and death.

A Story board about Lynford.

Here are some questions to think about… What do you think has happened to Lynford? Where do you think he is? Will he ever come back? Why did this happen? Should they get another hamster? If they do, will it live forever? We could use the “Emotional Barometer” to explore our feelings and those of the child in the story.

If you would like to talk about your own feelings in private we can arrange that. We are all going to do the Lynford challenge. You will see it on the next screen.

We are going to read a poem called “My gerbil”. We will talk about it afterwards.
