What Happened Charging $5 at the door Undercover Officer Walked in paid the $5 and went downstairs where he was provided a beer After the Undercover left the Cops came in and arrested two of our brothers (the one collecting money and the one handing out the beers) They took all our money and beer as well we were told it was approx. 300 dollars and 25 30 racks. Assure them that everything that the police did was legal

The Consequences The two brothers arrested faced Class A Misdemeanors for Selling Alcohol Without a License We got them lawyers which originally cost $3000 for both of them There was a additional $1500 of overtime fees added in for a total of $4500 in lawyer fees Add in possible Endangering the welfare of a child if a minor was found to be present at the party

More Conseuences Both brothers arrested received a Disorderly Conduct 100 hours community service and a $375 fine Total Money Lost= $5250 (Not Including money or beer confiscated) On Probation through National and our School All brothers at the house could face aiding and abetting charges/ Other houses caught that night received jail time / Tell the story of this happening to one of our members brothers at Cortland/ And all of the bad things that could of happened ( fire, sexual assault)/ Social Probation was also awful

There are NO loopholes After putting on a panel discussion about opens with the Chief of Police and University Police If you paid money for the “environment”, a shirt, or any little gift at the door when there is alcohol being supplied Your held accountable Talk about 3rd party vendors

What Needs To Happen to Prevent this? When this idea comes up at chapter be sure to ask yourselves; who is going to be the one to take the risk of running money or handing out the alcohol? Is anyone really willing to put themselves or one of your brothers/ Remind them a lot worse things could of happened/ Open the floor for questions to be asked
