Using Food Labels Each macromolecule provides our bodies with a certain amount of calories. Carbohydrates: 4 calories per gram Protein: 4 calories per gram Fats: 9 calories per gram We can use these values to calculate the breakdown of calories!
How? You multiply the number of grams by the amount of calories it provides. Add them together to get the total amount of calories for the food your eating.
Carbohydrates Total Carbohydrates: 19.66 grams Calories provided: 4 per gram 19.66 X 4 = 78.64 Calories
Fats Total Fat: 0.56 grams Calories provided: 9 per gram 0.56 X 9 = 8.64 Calories
Proteins Total Protein: 1.24 grams Calories provided: 4 per gram 1.24 X 4 = 4.96 Calories
