MANDATE of the Working Party on Financial Statistics Current WPFS Mandate The current Mandate is based on the Minutes of the 135th session of the Council [C/M(67)4(Final), Item36] Extract of the document [C/M(67)4(Final), Item36]: “The Council agreed that a group of statisticians be convened to examine how financial statistics in [the field of the activities of the Committee for Invisible Transactions] could be improved” The Mandate does not include the various activities that the WPFS is requested to undertake As OECD Directory of Bodies is revised every year, there is an opportunity to propose changes of the WPFS Mandate
MANDATE of the Working Party on Financial Statistics Proposal for a revised WPFS Mandate The WPFS contributes to the OECD aim of deepening the knowledge of Member countries’ financial systems High Priorities of the WPFS : Improving the timeliness, the quality and the international comparability of OECD financial statistics Adapting it to the evolving requirements of the Committee on Financial Markets (CMF)
MANDATE of the Working Party on Financial Statistics Proposal for a revised WPFS Mandate (foll.) Main tasks of the WPFS: Collect/disseminate comprehensive statistics by establishing the methodology & relevant questionnaires Harmonise national statistics across countries Act as a forum to exchange information and experience The WPFS will seek a maximum of concordance with the statistical works of the WPNA The WPFS will undertake activities relating to accession countries and enhanced engagement countries
MANDATE of the Working Party on Financial Statistics Conclusions The WPFS delegates are invited: To discuss the draft mandate To amend the proposal, if necessary To instruct the Secretariat to transmit this new mandate to the competent authorities of the OECD
