You shouldn’t throw it away Electronic waste is hazardous to human health and the environment. “e” waste contains dangerous chemicals and heavy metals that will leach into the water table and pollute the ground water. Recycling ewaste can be very lucrative, and is perfect for small to medium size business ventures

“e”waste – any and all types of electronic waste that can no longer be used. Televisions Monitors Computers Fax machines Printers Copiers Telephone systems Cell phones Flat screen monitors Plasma displays Scanners CD rom players DVD players Hard drives Slot machines Toasters Toaster ovens Microwave ovens Blenders Battery chargers Vacuum cleaners Electric Shavers Hair dryers

The U.S EPA states that “e” waste is the fastest growing segment of the municipal waste stream Growing 3 times as fast as the solid waste stream 3 million tons discarded in the US in 2003 Over 10 million tons in 2007 3% of this is recycled

Many states have implemented a landfill ban 2001 California passed the first ban on electronic waste 2003 Maine, Minnesota, Massachusetts followed suit 2005 13 other states had initiated a landfill ban policy 2007 23 states have some type of legislation in house to ban hazardous electronics from landfills.
