BTEC First qualification Equivalent to a GCSE qualification At Level 2, it is equivalent to (old) Grade C or above or (new) Grade 5 Students can gain a Pass (Level 1) = Grade D (old) or Grade 4 (new) Students can gain a Pass (Level 2) as above Students can gain a Merit (old B or new 6) Students can gain a Distinction (old A or new 7) Students can gain a * Distinction (old A* or new 8 /9)
How assessed? One exam worth 25% - Unit 1The UK travel and tourism sector (taken in Yr 10 with possibility to retake if necessary) One piece of coursework – Unit 2 UK travel and tourism destinations (compulsory unit) Two further pieces of coursework – optional units – probably Unit 4 International Travel and Tourism destinations and Unit 5 Factors affecting worldwide travel and tourism. To obtain a qualification at Level 2, must achieve Level 2 Pass in units 1 & 2.
