Henri Matisse Alyssa Ruben 11-09-05

Childhood Born on December 31, 1869 His Family was his father named Emile and his mother named Heloise. Born in Le Cateau, France He was an only child.

Education Henri Matisse was not always going to be an artist. He was originally going to law school to become a law clerk He studied art at Ecole Des Beaux-Art in Gustave Moreau.

“Woman with a hat” This work of art is called “Woman with a hat”. It was made in 1905. This is one of my favorite artworks.

“La Danse” This is one of Henri Matisse’s most famous artworks called “La Danse” “La Danse” was made in 1910. This paining is really famous.

“The Swan” This sketch is called “The Swan”. “The Swan” was made in 1932. This is one of my favorite artworks.

“Woman swimming in the aquarium” This work of art is called “woman swimming in the Aquarium” “Woman Swimming in the aquarium’ was made in 1943-1946. It was made during his old age.

Conclusion Henri Matisse died on November 3rd, 1954. He lived to be 85 years old. Instinct must be thwarted just as one prunes the branches of a tree, so that it can grow better. I like Henri Matisse because he uses vibrant colors and I like his artwork.
