The Business Pitch

Business Pitch Basics A pitch is basically delivering a business plan verbally. A pitch typically takes the form of an entrepreneur or group of entrepreneurs presenting or describing their ideas to prospective investors. The aim is to describe a business opportunity with the intention of securing funding to develop the idea further.

Business Pitch Basics Typically, entrepreneurs commence the pitch with a request for a certain amount of funding in return for a certain percentage of equity in the business. The presenter then describes the opportunity and concludes with a Q&A session.

Business Pitch Basics Unlike most business plans, the pitch is not a physical document. A pitch should, however, contain the same content as a business plan, with the main differences being the breadth of material covered and the delivery method.

Business Pitch Content Once you’ve started off your business pitch with a brief overview of your business idea, it’s time to flesh out the details. You want to get across the reasons investors should buy in; for example, what benefits will investors receive if they provide the necessary capital? Your business pitch might include the following: Team members and advisors Market analysis Industry analysis Marketing plan Overview of the competition How your product/service is different than competitors Financial needs Start up $ needed Why the shark tank should invest in your business

Business Pitch Basics While your overall idea is the most important part of your business pitch, make sure to polish the details: be sure your numbers are correct and have evidence to validate any claims you make. Use powerful, convincing words and avoid using superlatives and, of course, make sure to use proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation! You want potential investors to judge your business pitch based on merit rather than surface errors.

Business Pitch Attire On the day of your presentation you must dress as professional as possible.
