WHAT IS FINANCIAL AID? Financial Aid is money received from state and federal governments and private institutions which is awarded to help students pay for college expenses.

TYPES OF FINANCIAL AID Gift aid includes grants and scholarships – gifts of money to pay for college that don’t have to be repaid. Self-help aid includes employment, such as part- time jobs that help curb college expenses, and loans that you will need to repay. Financial Aid is based on demonstrated need and is designed to help students who cannot afford the cost of attending college. Scholarships based on merit should be seen as a reward for grades, special talents, creativity, leadership, or other criteria used to select recipients.

Average published tuition and fees for in‐state students in the public four‐year sector is $9,650. Room and board charges are $10,440. Average published out-of-state tuition and fees at public four-year institutions are $24,930. Gold Seal CAPE Scholars Award Can only be used to fund a career education or certificate program. Upon completion of an Associate in Science degree program that articulates to a bachelors of science degree a GSC scholar may also receive an award for a maximum of 60 credit hours towards a BS degree. Upon completion of an associate in applied science program, a GSC Scholar may also receive an award for a maximum of 60 credit hours towards a bachelor of applied science degree program.

Gold Seal CAPE Scholars Award Eligibility Requirements Meet the general requirements for Bright Futures Earn a minimum of 5 postsecondary credit hours through CAPE industry certification which articulates for college credits 30 hours of community service hours approved by the district

Scholarship Awards – How Does It Work? Public and Private Institutions Students will receive the specified award amounts established annually by the Florida Legislature in the General Appropriations Act. Florida Academic Scholar New 2017-2018 Award Amounts Florida Academic Scholars (FAS) will receive an award to cover 100% of tuition and applicable fees and $300 for both fall and spring semesters for additional educational expenses. Students attending a public institution will have tuition and applicable fees covered. These fees include activity and service fee, health fee, athletic fee, financial aid fee, capital improvement fee, campus access/transportation fee, technology fee and tuition differential fee.
