Resume Format No set format – 3 styles Chronological Functional Electronic Showcases your ability to organize information Neat, Eye Pleasing No Errors Easy to Read Written to the Job Description

Parts of a Resume Main categories (always on a resume) Personal Information Job Interest (Objective/Summary) Education Work Experience References Optional categories (added when appropriate) Interests Extracurricular Activities Leadership/Honors

Chronological Resume Most common style of resume Each category is broken into dates beginning with most current 

Functional Resume Used to showcase education and skills instead of experience Great for a new graduate or someone applying for a different career field Broken into specialty or skill areas and does not focus on dates 

Electronic Resume Used for posting on Web Use default fonts – no special or fancy fonts/characters Keep it short Concise and specific terms to describe education and skills Write to the job description
