3rd Grade Weekly Update Ms. Soeder Important News and Reminders March 11-15 Language Arts -This week’s story is titled “Chestnut Cove.” It is a fantasy story. -Our focus skill this week is identifying cause and effect relationships. -Our robust vocabulary words are: eagerly, transferred, contented, collaborate, fondness, emotion, ridiculous, disgraceful, decent, and inherit. -We will work on using past, present, and future verbs correctly. -Our writing project will be a fantasy story. Science This month we will switch gears to life cycles. We will start by diagramming the stages of various life cycles. Next week we will begin a research project in small groups. Everyday Math Lesson 7.8-7.9 and Test This week we will be working on the following skills: -Multiplication and division strategies. -Estimation -The test is THURSDAY! Please complete the review portion of homework prior to the test. Those concepts will be on the test! Important News and Reminders https://orders.scholastic.com/LNG9L. I am honored to be part of the judging process for the National Character Essay Contest. -OAA is LESS than 2 months away! -Rock Hall visit is March 28th. Permission slips to follow this week! -Spring Break starts March 29th. Character Chat Integrity, Justice, and Fun!!! -We’ve had a bit of a lack of integrity at center time. Students are taking “recess” during that time which causes them to miss real recess to make up the work. Please use this time for learning and not play! -Raelynn, you have been putting in so much hard work lately and you have seen such great improvements. I am so very proud of you and hope that you continue your best efforts! Spelling words: input, present, misuse, inside, preview, incorrect, pretest, mislead, preheat, indoors, misplace, preschool, misread, mismatch, misspell. Challenge Words: Mistaken, incomplete, misbehave, misprint, invisible.
