Physical Properties of Matter

Physical Properties State of Matter- Solid, Liquid, and Gas Shape, Size, Color, Taste, and Texture are physical properties Mass- The amount of matter in a substance Density- The amount of mass in a given volume of a substance

Melting-Boiling Point Melting Point- The temperature at which a substance changes from a solid to a liquid Freezing Point- The temperature at which a substance changes from a liquid to a solid Boiling Point- The temperature at which a substance boils and begins to change to a gas. Water changes from a solid (ice) to a liquid at 0° Celsius and will boil and change to a gas (steam or water vapor) at 100° Celsius

Electrical Conductivity- How well a substance allows energy to flow through it Solubility- The ability to dissolve in another substance Malleability- The ability of an object to be pressed into a thin sheet without shattering
