UKS2 Topic: Early Islamic Civilisation Block D: The rise and fall of Baghdad Session 4

Exploring Islamic Artforms: Creating a repeating geometrical pattern

Begin to create a design by adding lines. On squared paper, or a suitable computer background, mark out a 4 x 4 square. Begin to create a design by adding lines.

Experiment with the design by shortening some lines… And add more lines... Experiment with the design by shortening some lines… … and try adding other lines.

Keep experimenting, until… … you are happy with your design. Then, delete the squared background!

Use the ‘Snipping Tool’ to select a square ‘tile’. Reduce the tile in size… … before using copy and paste to make a repeating pattern!

Print, then shade your pattern!
