DOE Transmission Grid Study National Energy Policy (NEP) directed the Secretary of Energy to examine the benefits of establishing a national electrical grid, identifying major transmission bottlenecks and remedies to remove them CERTS will organize and provide technical support to DOE team leading the study Study will develop issue papers and hold public workshops on key policy issues Issues likely to include: need determination; permitting and siting; business models for investment and operation; operating and interconnection policies; reliability management and oversight; deployment of new technologies Final report is due Dec. 31, 2001
