Level : Secondary 3 Writing a newspaper article Outline the purpose of the article Choose the topic Conduct your research work Write the article Edit the article. Ask another team to proofread it Correct the text and type it on the computer Do a spell check Compile all of the student’s articles.   Newspaper Article Writing Guide  First paragraph In the first two sentences, specify who, what, when, where and why. Try to attract the reader’s attention by beginning with a funny, clever, or surprising statement. Go for variety: begin your article with a question or a provocative statement.  Second/third/fourth paragraph Give the readers the details. Insert one or two quotes. Write in the third person (he, she, it, they). Be objective (never state your opinions). Use the quotes to express someone else’s opinions.  Last paragraph Recap (do not use “in conclusion” or “last of all ”). Try ending with a quote or a powerful phrase.
