August 28 Mrs. Poche’s Polar Press The Arctic Circular Mrs. Poche’s Polar Press August 28 5th & 6th Grade Open House is Wednesday, Aug. 30th at 6 PM. This week we will work on summarizing texts using text structure cues and identifying figurative language in our novels. We will begin our first writing prompt. Please check planners for daily assignments. Novel comprehension tests will be announced as we reach the end of a reading session. LANGUAGE We will begin Mentor Sentences this week and continue our Daily Language review. Spelling-student must be able to correctly spell the eight Unit 3 Classical Roots AND the novel vocabulary words for a test on Friday. READING Vocabulary: Both grade levels will complete Classical Roots Lesson 3 this week. All work is due on Thursday and the test is on Friday. Novel vocabulary matching test from Call It Courage Chapter 1 (4th grade) is on Tuesday. Maniac Magee Chapters 6-14 (5th grade) will be on Thursday. HANDWRITING Practice page 3 is due on Friday. Can you decode these proverbs? Exercise your visual faculties prior to executing a jump. Any object that ascends into the stratosphere irrevocably and inevitably descends to terra firma. DECODE THE PROVERB: Remember to R.A.C.E. every written response question.
