Psychologists: Are people who have been trained to observe, analyze, evaluate, and treat behavior Psychology is separated into a number of subfields and psychologist choose a subfield to specialize in. What other fields of study have multiple subfields?

How does one become a psychologist? In 2002–2003 psychology was the most popular intended undergraduate major according to a survey of college freshman Master’s Degree needed for some subfields of psychology Doctoral Degree needed for most jobs in psychology

Your task: Research the different career choices in Psychology Clinical psychologist Counseling psychologist Psychiatry Developmental psychologist Educational psychologist Community psychologist Industrial/organizational psychologist Experimental psychologist You will work with your table and create a poster describing the characteristics of each subfield.

What to include on your poster Create a poster describing the psychology career Include on your poster: Education needed -5 points Who they treat? – 5 points How they treat patients – 5 points Where they work-points Are they using basic or applied science? Explain – 5 points Create a symbol/image to help remember the tasks of the psychology subfield career - 5 points What colleges in Kentucky offer the specific degree? What are requirements to get into the program? 5 points Make sure the poster is visually appealing You can use your cellphone and textbook to find information Writing is large enough for class to see Use color Be ready to share information with the class. Some information in books but have more information for each field on sharepoint. Need to be organized or find better resources?

Presentation Expectations Audience needs to remain quiet during presentations (please keep questions until the end) Presenters please speak loudly and slowly so the whole class can hear. Audience make sure to write information on your notes page. Make sure to clap for the presenters  Need rubric.
