Presentation transcript:

iMexico! Here are some quick facts on the country south of the US ! There are many famous people from Mexico including Diego Rivera, Frieda Kahlo, Pancho Villa, and Salma Hayek. Mexico’s flag is made up of three solid colors; red, white, and green, with an eagle in the middle. Mexico is located south of the US, and is divided from the US by the Rio Grande, one of the largest rivers in Mexico. Mexico has one of the most fascinating cultures in the world. The Mexican people are the late descendents of the Aztecs and the Mayans. The music in Mexico is related to the history of Mexico. To find out more on this country, read on!

Famous Mexican People Diego Rivera was an artist whose art showed feeling and compassion. Frieda Kahlo was another artist who mimicked Rivera’s work because she loved it so much. Her and Diego Rivera got married later on in her life after a tragic accident. Pancho Villa was an outlaw in his time in Mexico, but was a lot like a modern day Robin Hood; “Steal from the rich and give to the poor”. Salma Hayek is an actress, and it all started with her being chosen to be on a soap opera. This helped her become a famous movie star. Ana Guevara is an athlete whose famous career as an athlete started with her playing basketball on her school team. Mario Molina is a chemist who, starting when he was little, loved and still loves science and all the stuff that goes with it. Guillermo del Toro is a movie director who directed many known movies. These movies are things like Pans Labyrinth, the Hellboy series, Blade II, and Cronos.

Origin of Mexico’s Flag The Mexican flag is made up of three colors (red, white, and green) and an eagle in the middle (the eagle looks like it has the same idea of freedom as the American quarter) The three colors, red, white, and green, were chosen to represent The Plan of the Three Guarantees : 1)Mexican independence 2)recognition of the catholic religion 3)Union of the Spaniards and Mexicans The eagle with the snake/serpent in its mouth was not added as a permanent symbol on the Mexican flag until President Don Venustiano Carranza made it so that it was a permanent symbol.

Mexico/US Border The United States and Mexico are divided my the famous and well known river, the Rio Grande (as seen to the right/top.) The Rio Grande spreads the whole length of the Mexico/US border. Sometimes, the Rio Grande cannot always be so agreeable with the residents living on the coast of it (as seen to the bottom/right) Even though the Rio Grande can be disastrous, it is still a magnificent place to just relax.

Mexican Culture Mexico has one of the most fascinating cultures in the world The Mexican Culture is a mixture of many other cultures including Spanish, Mexican, and sometimes it can be combined with Catholic There are many different holidays in Mexico, including Dia de Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, Cinco de Mayo, of the 5th of May, etc. The Mexican culture is very religious, in which I mean they dress up, create big festivals, and have many parades.

Culture: Dia de Los Muertos Dia de Los Muertos is a well known holiday born in Mexico The picture to the left shows a fraction of Dia de Los Muertos decorations Dia de Loa Muertos is a lot like the American holiday, Halloween During this Mexican holiday, Mexican residents who participate dress up as skeletons or something like that Dia de Los Muertos is dedicated to relatives who have passed away recently, or in other circumstances, have passed away a long time ago

Culture: Cinco de Mayo Cinco de Mayo means the 5th of May. The reason the 5th of May is so important is because it is the date that the Mexicans from Spain gained their independence The way people in Mexico celebrate Cinco de Mayo is by dancing, having special parades all around, eating celebratory foods, listen to many kinds of music, etc.

Different Culture Types: Spanish The Spanish part of the Mexican culture makes up part of their language Mexico civilians’ ancestors broke free from the bonds that kept them in Spain, but in the process of creating their own culture, the Mexican culture brought some Spanish culture with them

Piñatas in Mexico Parties in Mexico are different than in the US Usually have a piñata, which is a hard paper & cardboard object which usually holds candy Piñatas are made to be broken open by sticks by young children in order to get the candy that waits inside

What to Eat During A Mexican Party In Mexico, you would probably eat lots of tacos Mexican foods are known for their spiciness and the burning sensation after you eat a red hot Mexican chile

Why to Visit Mexico Mexico has great festivities and culture along with heritage and statues

Mexican Festivities Mexican civilians are very content with their festivities along with anything relative to that

Mexican Heritage The Mexican heritage is continually growing, and whose population is more into it than the population of places like Russia or Canada.

Mexican Statues The statues that the Mexican citizens make are religious in some ways and not in others.
