Transfer and Articulation

Transfer and Articulation Washington ranks 1st in the nation for the average rate by which a community college student transfers to a four-year institution earns a bachelor’s degree within six years of entering higher education. Washington ranks 5th in the nation for the average rate by which a community college transfer student earns a credential before transferring to a four-year institution. Current Achievements WA Competes: Sector-wide Agenda for Public Baccalaureate Growth & Completion Degrees to Meet Demand: Address state needs through targeted investments Student Success: Ensure that students have the resources to graduate High Impact Credentials: Ensure that all students excel in today’s competitive labor market Sector One-Pagers New: Pell Grant, Internships In the Works: State Work Study, Graduate Education

Next Steps Engaged with the WA Workforce Education & Coordinating Board around work-based learning. Several Legislative Work Groups: Accelerated Degree Programs, Sexual Assault Prevention, Behavioral Health & Suicide Prevention, Students with Disabilities, Student Loan Debt. Institutions are in the process of developing reverse articulation agreements as required by Senate Bill 6354. Drafting sector common language with regard to Cambridge credits, updating AP and IB institutional equivalencies. Working with partners to: (1) Update transfer publications, (2) Begin discussions with regard to DTA-Business and DTA-Pre-Nursing/Nursing, (3) Implementation of new CHS rules, and (4) Mathways Project.
