How to Make Yeast Bread
Conventional Method of Mixing Dissolve the yeast in water about 105-115 degrees F and let stand for 5-10 minutes Heat the fat, sugar, and liquid, to melt the fat. Cool the mixture to lukewarm. 3. Add the dissolved yeast to the liquid, along with any eggs in the recipe. Add enough flour to make a the desired type of dough. Yeast recipes may give a range for the amount of flour needed. Flour varies because it varies in how much liquid it can absorb. On a humid day you need less flour because it has taken in some from the air. You have added enough flour when the dough cleans the side of the bowl.
Kneading Demonstration
Letting the Dough Rise Letting the dough rise allows yeast colonies to multiply and develop flavor. Put dough in lightly greased bowl that is large enough for the dough to double in size. 2. Place plastic wrap over it. Then put a clean dry towel over the plastic wrap. Put dough in warm place 75-85 degrees F and let double in size.
Punching Down the Dough Punching down the dough releases excess gas making it easier to shape the dough.
