Allotments in October

ALL ABOUT OCTOBER Carved pumpkin for Halloween. With autumn well under way, October is usually a month full of chilly mornings and spooky nights the kind of weather that puts your mind of hot mugs of tea and bowls of soup and if you’re allotment gardener lots of lovely winter digging! Typical day in October.

What can you grow in October? You can grow: carrots spinach lettuce celeriac ornamental vegetable Carrots Spinach You can harvest pumpkins, squashes, fruit, and outdoor tomatoes. The main crop to harvest is potatoes.

GLOSSARY Celeriac: is a variety of celery. Allotment: is a piece of land that you can plant fruit and vegetables. Crop: is food or plants that you can gather.
