Positive Problem Solving

Everyone, take your playdough and roll it into a ball. Now change it into something else. Everyone take your rock. Now change it into something else.

Let’s think of problems like these objects. Could we change this? Could we change this?

Problems that we can change: Calling out in class. You treated a friend badly and they are angry You keep forgetting your homework. Problems we cannot change: The weather is horrible. Someone you know is sick. Adults in your life got into an argument.

Positive Thinking

Different ways to describe positive thinking: For ALL problems it helps to make the problem a bit better through positive thinking. Different ways to describe positive thinking:

(POSITIVE THINKING) STATEMENTS EXAMPLES OF GROWTH MINDSET (POSITIVE THINKING) STATEMENTS If I focus, I can do anything I set my mind to. I might have to go back and try a new way to solve the problem. This gives me an opportunity to try something new. Mistakes are part of learning; I’ll just do my best. I am disappointed, but I have other things I will focus on. I can train my brain and with practice I WILL get it.

When you are having one of those days…. try to be positive. It always helps any problem.
