New York Theatre Workshop Founded in 1979 by Stephen Graham, the New York Theatre Workshop focuses on helping budding playwrights and directors develop their talents through workshops and productions. Playwrights such as Jonathan Larson (Rent), Tony Kushner (Slavs!), and The Five Lesbian Brothers (Oedipus at Palm Springs) got their start at this theater.
New York Theatre Workshop NYTW has been a pre-Broadway launching pad for such plays as Once and Peter and the Starcatcher. The New Director's Project brings diverse new and established artists together in collaboration.
