©MDE – Office of Special Education Juvenile Justice and Detention Centers Educational services at juvenile detention centers continues to be an area of focus for the Department of Justice FAPE and Child Find requirements apply to all students. This includes related services. Continues through the summer 2015-2016 ©MDE – Office of Special Education

©MDE – Office of Special Education Juvenile Justice and Detention Centers For Sponsor School District Information must be gathered immediately. Information must be collected on ALL students, not just students with disabilities. IEPs need to be reviewed for accuracy as well as services. If IEPs need revision, this needs to be done immediately. 2015-2016 ©MDE – Office of Special Education

©MDE – Office of Special Education Juvenile Justice and Detention Centers For Home School District Must designate 2 people as points of contact for JDC personnel to contact year round. IEP records must be sent immediately. Additional information needed for ALL students will include attendance, discipline, tier status, and behavior plans. Be prepared to cooperate in Child Find activities which may begin at in either location but will need to be completed within timelines. 2015-2016 ©MDE – Office of Special Education

State Systemic Improvement Plan (SSIP) The “Kickoff” meetings for the SSIP districts will occur in February. Phase II of the SSIP is due to OSEP April 1, 2016. Please attend the SSIP breakout sessions today to provide input in our State’s plan to improve outcomes for student’s with disabilities. 2015-2016 ©MDE – Office of Special Education

State Systemic Improvement Plan (SSIP) SSIP districts will soon receive a listserv message allowing for preregistration for teachers in LETRS training. Please adhere to the timelines to ensure priority enrollment. 2015-2016 ©MDE – Office of Special Education
