Presentation transcript:

Nonracialism vs. Race Consciousness (Bonilla-Silva, 2014) By preserving the two words as future references. Collaborating with the ruling/radicalised government or individual respectively

Preventing Racial Genomics (Fine, Ibrahim & Thomas, 2005) Identifying the role of genetics in societal disparities Point out the root cause of disparities The role of genomics on eliminating racial disparities Whether an individual’s genomics affect his social or environmental personality

Preventing the Nation and its Peoples (Acemoglu & Robinson, 2012) Understanding international collaboration between states Embracing individuals with higher education and better experience to take up higher authoritative positions The government developing policies that educate and go against racism

Preventing Race/Gender/Class "Intersectionality“ (Chow, Segal & Tan, 2011) Identifying the instability of intersectionality practice today – oppression, domination, discrimination Developing pragmatic approaches to counter this instabilities Use historical and comparative contexts to approach intersectionality problems as social micro-macro linkage problems

Preventing Empire, Race, and Neoconservatism (Lenhard, 2010). Identifying current practices in neoconservatism reciprocating race and empire Realizing new ways of neoconservatism through ideal approaches that do not compromise on race and empire Working closely with the empire or race being looked down upon to uphold the sober international agenda of neoconservatism

Contrast of Presented Models Herrenvolk model focuses on the core ethnic group and awards authority or governorship to that ethnic group Feminist theory points out the inequality of women in the society Both models propagate upholding of a certain group/class of people

Gaps in the Models Herrenvolk model does not qualify as democratic, not as much as ethnocracy or ethnic democracy Feminist theory does not balance the agenda of both genders coming to an equal ground. Rather it focuses on uplifting the female gender as an opposition against their discrimination

Global Situation Still Volatile and Undertheorized (Winant, 2006, p Winant believes that despite the many years this topic has hit headlines, the practice is still embraced and not much has been done about it. I agree with Winant in the sense that, there are individuals in Europe and America that still do not see eye-to-eye with African-American or African-native individuals despite the uprisings, education, and law enforcement

Negative Effects of Discrimination on Diverse Cultures (Winant, 2006) This could cause Xenophobia if not controlled A minority group may go extinct The nation might lack or delay to develop with the current world trends due to rejecting foreigners

Awareness of Race and Racism Patterns in Enhancing Public Safety and Research (Winant, 2006) This would encourage easy transfer of technology from foreign skilled labor to local trainee laborers It will help with counteracting the idea of racism from the root level This process will change the perception of people that was dependent on their race
