Great Start! 4th Grade Friday, August 26th 2016 Social Reading The week started off great. Students were busy learning and practicing classroom expectations and routines. They filled their desks with the textbooks they covered with paper bags and got their folders and notebooks organized with labels. Students also had a visit from the orchestra instructors on Thursday. Your child should have bought home a letter explaining the benefits of orchestra and a sheet to fill out if your child would like to participate. Please have that form completed and turn in to school by September 1st. Lessons will be on Friday this year. We ended the week with an all school picnic lunch and an assembly to kick-off the Walk-A-Thon. An information packet was sent home with your child today. First turn in day is next Wednesday with Walk-A-Thon on Saturday, September 24th. Parent letter will be sent home next week. Social Studies Review geography of the world – continents, oceans, countries, etc. Reading NEXT WEEK: Focus Skill: Character’s Traits & Motivation Vocabulary: depriving, annoyed, queasy, foisted, pact, venture Math Next week we will begin the number sense unit. Concepts that will be covered are place value, number forms, rounding, comparing, and ordering numbers up to one million.
