3 1 SSlogan Pilar Pride Campaign MESSAGE STRATEGY Key Message Ideas   3 1 Key Message Ideas (draft ideas, not final) Overview of SMART Objectives ( for Rare Staff) 2 Use only hook & line, fish pots and spear in the marine reserve. Fish nets and all illegal activities are not allowed in the marine reserve. A responsible fisher respects the rules of the MPA. Following MPA rules is simple and easy to do. I am doing it. You too can do it! I am the pride of my family and community, I respect the rules of the MPA! My fellow fishers, I am doing it it right! I fish with the right gear at the right place outside the MPA. You too can! I don’t want to lose my source of livelihood, I will abide by the MPA rules. “More and bigger fish is still the best. Catch them with the right gear at the right place.” K1: maintain high level of awareness on MPA rules prohibiting intrusion & fishing inside the NTZ Messaging Strategy I am a STAR fisher of the community leading my fellow fishers to fish with the right gear at the right place outside the MPA to conserve the marine resources and increase fish abundance to sustain the source of our livelihood and support for the needs of our families today and the next generations. K2: increase knowledge on the right gear to use in the marine reserve A1. agree to follow rules of the NTZ A2: agree to use only allowed gears in the marine reserve Support Points (draft points, not final) IC1: talking about not intruding & fishing inside the NTZ Sustainable management of MPAs is an effective strategy to address current issues on marine habitat degradation and fish scarcity. Intrusion and fishing inside the MPA and use of illegal gears in the marine reserve contribute to marine habitat destruction and reduction in fish abundance. Fishing with the right gear at the right place outside the MPA not only will sustain the management of the MPA but the livelihood of the fishing community as well. IC2: talking about using the right gear in the marine reserve SSlogan BC1: Fishers no longer intrude and fish inside the NTZ “Sa saktong panagat, SIK T” BC2: Fishers no longer use fish nets in the marine reserve
