Looking for Something to Do ? Restaurants (breakfast): Good Friends Café - head past the turn for West Dennis beach, and it will be in a plaza on the left (2-5 minute ride, depending on traffic). Pancake Man - on Rte 28 heading towards Hyannis (5-10 minute ride, depending on traffic) Hearth 'N Kettle - same direction as above, but a bit closer Breakfast Room - just around the corner from the cottage on Rte 28 (2-5 minute ride, depending on traffic) Grumpy's – popular spot on the north side of the Cape (take 134 North - back over the highway - and keep going a few miles until you get to the intersection for Rte 6A. Take a left there, and it's just up on the right. About 10 minutes from the cottage) Restaurants (dinner): Captain Parker’s (huge selection) - on Rte 28 heading towards Hyannis (10-15 minute ride, depending on traffic) Chapin's (American/traditional fare) - just around the corner and within walking distance Lost Dog Pub (American/traditional fare) - by the intersection of Rtes 134 and 6A in Dennis (10-15 minute ride, depending on traffic) Scargo Café (American/traditional fare - great sweet potato fries !) - on Rte 6A in Dennis (15-20 minute ride, depending on traffic) Red Nun Bar & Grill (burgers and sandwiches - huge draft beer selection !) - on Rte 28 in Dennisport (about 5 minutes from the cottage) Etzy’s (American/traditional fare) - newer restaurant on Rte 28 in Dennisport - on side of plaza just before Harwich town line (5 minute ride) El Mariachi’s (Mexican restaurant – formerly Acapulco’s) - on Rte 28 heading towards Hyannis (10-15 minute ride, depending on traffic) Stuff to Do (day time): The beach (obviously!). Couple of small ones within walking distance (1/2 mile), and the big town one about a 1 1/2 miles away. Go down to Hyannis, and check out Main Street and the docks. While in Hyannis, take a tour on the Duckmobile (it's one of those vehicles that can ride on both land and water – the kids love it !). Take a ferry ride over to Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket for the day (ferries leave from Hyannis) Check out Monomy Island. It's a beach over in Chatham, that's only accessible by boat. You'll get dropped off there, and call later when you're ready to head back. The neat thing about it is that seals will swim by in the ocean, while you're there. Go to Nauset Beach in Orleans. It's on the ocean side, and is awesome. About 20 minutes away (Rte 6 East to exit 12, and follow the signs). Take a ride up to Provincetown (about an hour ride from here – following Rte 6 East). Always something "interesting" to see there! If the weather isn’t great, you can take in a movie (next door to Stop & Shop) or check out the mall in Hyannis (movie theater there too). Play a round of miniature golf and enjoy some ice cream afterwards (there's a bunch of both along Rte 28, heading towards Hyannis) Go shopping at the Christmas Tree Shops or Cuffy's (a great place for t-shirts and sweatshirts) -- there's a bunch of both up here! Grab lunch at the Dog House (within walking distance, on the way back from the beach). Great hot dogs and clam fritters! Check out the Cape Cod Brewery (Hyannis), Devil’s Purse Brewery (here in Dennis), or Truro Vineyards and Rum Distillery (Truro) Stuff to Do (night time): Go to the Sand Dollar or the Cleat and Anchor (formerly Rum Runners). Both are restaurants during the day, but bars at night (often with live music). Added bonus: they’re within walking distance (on Lower County Road) ! Head into Hyannis, and check out the bars and restaurants on Main Street (personal favorites: Gringo’s and the Beech Tree Cantina). Go to the new Sea Dog brewpub/restaurant in Yarmouth (up by Rte 6 on Station Ave). Many varieties of what they brew available on tap ! Check out a show at the Cape Cod Melody Tent (Hyannis) or a play at the Cape Cod Playhouse (Rte 6A in Dennis).
