First Grade News September 19, 2016 – September 23, 2016 Coming Up: *Spelling lists and handwriting practice are attached to this newsletter. Handwriting practice is due Friday, and our spelling test is also on Friday. Please practice these words with your child every night. *Our beginning of year testing is done so I will be sending home books with your child to read. Please read with your child and initial in their reading folder every night. *September 26th we will have our first PTA meeting at 6 pm. Immediately following the meeting we will have the 3rd grade program and math night. We’d love it if you could join us! What We’re Learning… *Reading- main idea, author’s purpose, “What Is A Pal?”, short “a” words, sight words: too, funny, does, friend, full *Writing- collecting writing ideas *Math- number bonds *Science- matter and energy, classifying matter Reminders: *Please make sure your child returns their library book to their backpack after reading it with you so they have it here when we go to the library. *If your child does not have head phones at school, please send them this week. *Please make sure your child has appropriate shoes each day for PE. *Please do not allow your child to bring toys to school. *Homework is due on Friday! –attached to this newsletter.
