Language Arts This week, we'll focus on making connections between the books we read and our own lives, other books we've read, and the world around us. We will also work on using context clues to read unknown words. We’ll continue learning about the writing process to help us develop as writers. Math It’s time to brush off those flashcards! We have been reviewing basic addition facts with daily timed drills. The 3rd grade goal is to correctly solve 30 problems in 1 min. 30 sec. Students are asked to drill at home with flashcards 5 minutes/5 days a week until they pass the timed drill.   Students have until the end of the month to reach this goal. In the coming weeks we will be reviewing place value, working on our rounding, and learning place value up to the hundred thousand place.  Social Studies We have been exploring our local community, and the importance of following rules in order to be a good citizen.  The students did a terrific job reciting their patriotic poems on Constitution Day!  We were happy that so many parents were able to take time to witness the signing of our class’ constitution.  Science After our civics unit concludes we will begin our study of animals and their habitats and life cycles.
