3rd Grade – Miss Osborne’s June Newsletter! Important Dates: -May 30th: Memorized Poem instructions sent home -June 1st: Pioneer Farms Field Trip *Please make sure students are at school by 7:30 am -June 5th: All Library books due back to school -June 5th: Poem approval sheet due back to school -June 6th: Water Cycle Lab -June 13th: Students recite their memorized poem -June 15th: Pioneer Picnic -June 16th: Donuts for Dads 8:00-8:30 am -June 20th: Last Day of School! Have a great summer! Pioneer Farms We will be traveling to Pioneer Farms (in Eatonville) on Thursday, June 1st.. A payment of $33.00 need to be paid prior to going on the field trip. Please pay online for this field trip. We know that this is an expensive field trip, but with gas prices going up it’s inevitable and we find that this field trip is worthwhile for students. If you are chaperoning, you will need to drive on your own or carpool with other parents. Students and chaperones need to be at school at 7:30 so that the buses can leave by 7:45. We will be returning to school by 2:30, so your child will travel home as he/she does every other day. You and your child will need a sack lunch, including a drink (no glass please!). Layered clothing and sneakers is always a good idea (no sandals). The bus ride takes approximately one and a half hours, each way, so it would be a good idea for your child to bring a book or something to occupy his/her time. Electronic devices (headphones, games, etc…) are allowed; just know that we have no way of securing these items during the day. Does this look okay to you? Pioneer Picnic . We will be celebrating the end of the year and the end of our pioneer unit with our pioneer picnic. This will be on Thursday, June 15th. Students will be playing pioneer games and creating pioneer crafts to help them better understand pioneer life—especially as a child. Lunch will be provided for students that day.   Memorized Poem On Tuesday, May 30th, I will be sending home “Poem Approval” sheet. Students will need to choose a school appropriate poem (8 lines minimum) to memorize and recite to their classmates. This will be a part of our Apple Valley simulation. They will be reciting their poems on Tuesday, June 13th. Please make sure the approval sheet is turned into me by Monday, June 5th.   Donuts for Dads *June 16th 8:00am-8:30 On June, 16th , we will be having our Father’s Day celebration (Donuts for Dads) from 8:00-8:30 am in our classroom (room 261). Come to school early with your child and enjoy a donut and time spent with your child before starting your day 
