Steps SELF-EDIT: Read your essay with a colored pencil. Complete left side of the Editing Checklist. PEER EDIT: Pass the essay for each step- complete & mark off: Read & check for END PUNCTUATION (. ! ?) and COMMAS. Read & check for QUOTATION MARKS. Read & check for CAPITAL LETTERS at the BEGINNING OF SENTENCES. Read & check that PROPER NOUNS begin with a CAPITAL LETTER. Read & check that all sentences are complete thoughts- NO FRAGMENTS.
