Our weekly visit to the

Reading Workshop Expectations Check the teacher’s door for library instructions (You need to bring a pencil, PCR Book, and your reading folder.) When walking to the library you are silent. Upon entering the library you are courteous and quiet. Choose a seat in the library where you can focus and will be free from distractions. No more than three students on a couch and one student per comfy or stationary chair. You must be seated where the teacher can see you. (Do not sit behind the book stacks.) Avoid engaging with other students from other classes while in the library. This time is for you to build your stamina, vocabulary, and fluency as a READER. Please use it wisely. There is no “social talking” during Reading Workshop.

Procedures Use the first ten minutes of the class period to return a book or search for a new/back up book. While you are free to check out magazines, newspapers, picture books, or comic books our time in the library will be spent reading your PCR book. You are encouraged to use this time to add to your “Someday List” or “Reading Record”. Be sure to check out your books with the librarian before leaving the library. You should use the bathroom or get a drink before heading to the library. (If there is an emergency please see the teacher.)
