Don’t be grumpy Good study snacks: Bad study snacks : Pretzels Goldfish Dry cereal Baby carrots Grapes String cheese Sliced apples Crackers Trail mix Pop tarts Fruit snacks Soda/ sweet tea – a little caffeine? Bad study snacks : Any dips- too messy! Chocolate Nutella Bagels Cheetos Popcorn Doritos Etc.

Customize your study session: Find a spot where you can actually focus. Limit interruptions. Jams. Find a study playlist from Spotify, Pandora, YouTube, etc. Find something to listen to without words. If you don’t want to listen to music, consider running a fan or something to keep out random noises. Make a goal. You will waste your study time if you don’t create a specific goal for yourself. Write it on a sticky, scrap sheet, etc. WHAT DO YOU WANT TO ACCOMPLISH? Limit your study time. Typically our brains move on after 30 mins. Frequent, small study sessions beat hours of hitting the books. Have all your materials. Highlighters, pens, pencils - sticky notes - textbook Flashcards - notebooks - anything else?

general study tips: Turn facts or notes into songs, poems, etc. Highlight or underline key words and phrases Create a practice quiz; test yourself or someone else Put study guides and notes in a highly visible place Online quizzes or study apps When creating examples, choose topics you’re interested in Figure out what you struggle with. Write those ideas out in a variety of colors; practice rewriting & memorizing Color code notes. In some cases, sticking to one color for definitions, one color for examples, etc. is helpful. Create flashcards. Flip through them constantly, even for 5 minutes on the bus. Make connections to the world around you. Understanding complex ideas is easier when you can make a real-word application. Draw a picture to connect to an idea. You’ll remember the picture which will trigger the fact. Teach it to someone else. http://www.futurity.org/learning-students-teaching-741342/
