Work Opportunity Tax Credit One-time tax credit for hiring Vets and other targeted groups No limit on the numbers of new hires who can qualify Can be as much as  $2,400 for each new adult hire $1,200 for each new summer youth hire $9,000 for each new long-term family assistance recipient hired over a two-year period 

Workforce Training Fund Program Enacted by Massachusetts State Legislature in 1998 First grants awarded April 1999 Funded by employer contributions - $8.40 per employee per year collected with quarterly UI payments Contributions are collected into a Trust Approximately $18M - $21M in collections each year Workers must be paid while in training

WTFP Compliance Requirements All companies must pay quarterly into Workforce Training Fund. Self insured companies are not eligible. All trainees must be employed in Massachusetts All companies must be current with: Unemployment Insurance Unemployment Health Insurance Fair Share Current Workers Compensation Coverage Certificate of Good Standing

General Program Grant $250,000 maximum grant For companies of any size to implement a customized training program for incumbent workers Primary match wages(hourly rate +fringe) paid while in training 2-year maximum training period Companies may use training provider(s) of choice/ in or out of state Rolling Application Process Applicants are notified within 90 days of application submission

Cape Cod Success Stories: General Program Grant Cape Cod Success Stories: Convention Data Services, Bourne Shepley Wood Products, Barnstable Liberty Commons, Chatham Cape Associations, Eastham

Express Grants Must submit completed application at least six weeks before anticipated start date of training Online application reviewed and approved within 10 days Application approval is contingent upon Certificate of Good Standing And internal compliance check (DUA, DIA) After course is completed and paid, employer is reimbursed 50% of training cost /maximum of $3000 per employee/maximum $30,000 per year

On The Job Training Program Reduces employer’s cost to hire and train a new employee Funded through Federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Earn while you learn strategy that reimbursed employers a % of wages during training Reimbursement rate is based on size of the employer What the Employer gains:

On The Job Training Program Employer’s must agree to: Submit monthly evaluations and payroll records for reimbursement Provide substantive OJT training (max. length of 1,040 hours) Support development and implementation of training plan Pay commensurate wages/benefits to the trainee Commit to continued employment upon completion of training Hire the trainee for F/T permanent position

Cape Cod Young Adult Programs Young Adults 16 to 24 Out of School Youth

Internships & Work Experience Completed training in specific field and needs work experience in that field to get a job Or Have little work or no work experience, have not worked in years or do not have a good work history Career Opportunities pays wages $12 per hour up to 40 hours per week and payroll taxes
