School of Public Management

1. Basic information The total number of staff is over 50. 80% of them have got their Ph.D degrees and among them 12 are professors(3 of them are Ph.D advisor ), and 14 are associate professors. The School of Public Management of South-Central University for Nationalities was established in 2008. Now the school of Public Management has developed a relatively complete range of disciplines, exerting its impacts in researching and teaching. Besides, the School of Public Management has a team of expert teachers, core teachers and excellent young teachers and they have formed an outstanding team of teachers and researchers.

2. The system of disciplines   The system of disciplines covers 3 aspects such as management, pedagogy and psychology. We have the secondary discipline doctoral degree program in the Ethnic Education and five undergraduate programs such as public administration, public affairs management, labor and social security, applied psychology, and education.

The system of disciplines Also we have first-level disciplines for master degree program in public management and education and secondary discipline master degree program in Education Economics and Management (which is characteristic discipline in Hubei province), public management, social security, land resources and management, principles of education, curriculum and teaching theory, comparative education, and higher education. Besides, we have one MPA degree program and one education master degree program. Presently there are 200 graduate students and 1300 undergraduates in the school of Public Management.

One National demonstration center of teaching and teacher development (the Teachers’Teaching Development Centre of the Central University for Nationalities); One Key Research Base for Humanities and Social Science Research by State Ethnic Affairs Commission (Research Base for Minority Ethnic Education Development); One key research base of humanities and social science in Hubei Province (economy and society research center in ethnic areas in Hubei Province) One characteristic discipline in Hubei Province (Education Economic and Management).

4. Experiment and practice teaching conditions We have one provincial practice teaching demonstration center, Economics and Management Laboratory. The School also has one microteaching laboratory, one educational psychology laboratory and one integrated laboratory, all of which have advanced experimental facilities. The School has more than 20 teaching and research practice bases in several areas in Hubei Province, like Wuhan City, Xiantao City, Laifeng County, Changyang County. We have established good cooperation relationship with the relevant authorities.

Fruitful Academic research ■12 projects sponsored by National Social Science Foundation ■30 projects funded by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the State Ethnic Affairs Commission ■ 40 projects funded by other departments ■10 more awards including Outstanding Achievement Award of the national educational research, the State Ethnic Affairs Commission Social Science Achievement Award and so on ■over 170 articles in academic journals and more than 30 academic achievements

6. International exchanges and cooperation Until now several scholars and experts, from the US, Germany, Australia etc, have come to give academic reports. Meantime we also have a number of students take part in exchange program in the US, Germany, France and Britain.

The mission of the School is to train future managers in the ethnic areas, for the purpose of governing the people and administer a country. The School works hard to become a first-class domestic public management school that actively engages in teaching, research, training, and consulting.
